All eyes at news.Ladbrokes were on Philipp Kohlschreiber yesterday after we backed him to beat Robin Soderling, but Soderling showed his class to win the final set tie-break and he can do so again today against Mikhail Youzhny.
Soderling is the short-priced favourite to win the ABN AMRO tournament following Andy Murray’s exit in the first round, and the Swede is 1/3 to beat Youznhy and confirm his place in the semi-final.
This will be the sixth time that the two players have met on the ATP Tour and Soderling holds a 4-1 head-to-head advantage over the Russian.
All five previous matches have been completed within two sets and Soderling is a very tempting 10/11 to win in straight sets.
Youznhy is 9/4 to beat Soderling but considering he hasn’t beaten Soderling since their first meeting in Dubai back in 2007, it seems unlikely that the Russian will upset the form.
Marin Cilic vs Viktor Troicki
The other quarter-final taking place tonight offers all the value in the ATP Tour betting and Marin Cilic can secure his place in the semi-final.
The Croat is 8/11 to beat Troicki when they face off at 8.00pm tonight, and having won five of the previous six meetings between the two, Cilic seems like great value.
Troicki will be in confident mood ahead of the clash after winning the last tie between the two in Toronto in August, but Cilic has the dominant form over the Serb and looks the pick at 2/1 to beat Troicki 2-0.
Only once has one of these two players come from behind to win in head-to-head matches (Chennai 2008), and Cilic offers plenty of value at 5/4 to win the first set and win the match.
A £25 stake double on Soderling and Cilic winning 2-0 would return £143. New customers can sign up here for a free bet worth £25.
