Robin Soderling and Roger Federer are on course to meet each other in the final of Soderling’s home tournament, as the IF Stockholm Open enters the quarter-finals stage.
Soderling lost to Federer in the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Masters last week and the Swede will be eager for revenge in front of his home support, and Soderling is available at 3/1 to win the tournament.
Soderling has previous form in beating someone that defeated him the week earlier.
David Ferrer was on the end of a 2-0 drubbing in last week’s Shanghai Masters despite beating Soderling 2-0 in the China Open the week before.
But first up for Soderling is Florian Mayer on Friday evening, and Mayer is a 10/3 underdog to win the match with Soderling available at 1/5 to win the quarter-final match-up.
The two have never met before and despite Mayer putting in some impressive performances against Mikhail Youzhny and Feliciano Lopez in the past couple of weeks, Soderling can come away with a 2-0 victory and is 4/7 to do so.
Stanislas Wawrinka has the daunting task of facing Roger Federer and Federer is unbeaten against his fellow countryman in the last three matches.
Federer leads the head-to-head 5-1 with Wawrinka’s only win coming on the clay surfaces in Monte Carlo in 2009, and Federer is the 1/7 favourite to win.
Wawrinka is 4/1 to emerge victorious and a repeat of his 2009 performance, where he won in straight sets, is available at 8/1.
The six matches between the two have all been won in straight sets and Federer is 4/9 to do the same this time around.
After his ominous suggestions that he will end the season on a high, Federer is looking good value at 8/13 to win the IF Stockholm Open on Sunday.
Federer is likely to face an encounter with Ivan Ljubicic in the semi-finals. See the full IF Stockholm Open betting odds market here.
