Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal will face-off at London’s O2 on Wednesday, the Spaniard leading the head-to-head 15-8. The Brit has had a significantly better season however, and with odds of 4/7 the bookies are leaning in his favour.
Here’s a rundown of Wednesday’s matches…
Andy Murray v Rafael Nadal
Both Murray and Nadal looked in dominant moods as they silenced critics by dismissing their opponents in straight sets. Andy took a routine 6-4 6-4 victory over David Ferrer who gave him little trouble on the court.
Later on, Nadal performed an even more impressive win over Stan Wawrinka, thrashing the Swiss 6-3 6-2 in a surprisingly assertive fashion, with remnants of the old Nadal feeling ever-present.
In the two times they’ve met this year, Murray has stormed to straight set wins over the Spaniard, and a repeat performance at the O2 is priced up at 6/4.
However, given Rafa’s recent revival in form, you can’t help but think he will come away with at least a set here, and Murray to take the match 2-1 is an eye-catching 10/3.
David Ferrer v Stan Wawrinka
Both players were left feeling down and out after their first round-robin straight-set defeats, but this should be a tastier affair.
The pair last met in Monte Carlo with Stan the Man winning in straight sets, but it is the Spaniard who leads their overall head-to-head 8-6.
Stan displayed a weak performance against Rafa, failing to meet the standards he’s set over the past year, making 35 unforced errors for Nadal to capitalise on.
David Ferrer has five titles to his name in 2015, and will look to take advantage of an out-of-sorts Wawrinka. You can get him to win in straight sets at 3/1.
Rojer/Tecau can double-up against Dodig/Melo
In the doubles Fleming/McEnroe group, Herbert and Mahut will take on Matkowski and Zimonjic, both doubles partners losing their opening matches.
The French duo are favourites at 4/7 to triumph over the Polish pair, succumbing to a straight sets defeat under Rojer and Tecau, who moved to No.1 after their first group victory over the Bryan brothers.
They are 11/10 to complete a second victory over Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo, who saved two match points in their comeback win over Herbert and Mahut.
