This time last year Andy Murray and Mardy Fish were competing in Cincinnati for a place in the semi-final.
Fish took the semi-final spot and went on to lose to Roger Federer in the final having beaten fellow American Andy Roddick in the semi-final.
This year both Murray and Fish are back facing each other, but this time it’s for a place in the final and while Murray is the 4/5 favourite, Fish holds all the value at 1/1.
In 2010 Mardy Fish hit a run of form that propelled him into the top 10 in the world and saw him become the dark horse for the final Grand Slam tournament of the year – the US Open.
During this run he face Murray on three occasions and won them all, two on a hard court and once on grass at Queens.
Fish may not have carried that strong form into the start of the 2011 season, but since the ATP Tour moved from the grass courts to the hard courts, Fish has featured in all three finals of his three hard court tournaments.
The American one in Atlanta, lost to Ernests Gulbis in Los Angeles and Novak Djokovic last week in Montreal.
Murray may have bounced back from his shock first round exit this week but he faces a really tough time defeating Fish today.
They haven’t met since this tournament last year, but Murray’s last win over Fish came at the 2009 Queens event.
Four times the two have met on a hard court and Fish has won three to Murray’s one.
Punters can expect a very tight match today but Fish looks to hold all the value at 3/1 to win 2-1/
The winner will face either Novak Djokovic or Tomas Berdych in the final with the Serb expected to progress at 1/5 to win.
