With the January transfer window now up and running, clubs across the Ladbrokes Premiership are looking to make some quality acquisitions. And we start with a fascinating potential switch which could well shake up the top part of the table.
The most highly publicised saga is that of Niall McGinn, with the Aberdeen ace having been strongly linked with a switch to one of the Dons’ main rivals for the European spots – Heart of Midlothian.
With the Northern Ireland hitman out of contract in the summer, Derek McInnes may look to cash in during this window, but a switch to their league rivals would surely disappoint a few at Pittodrie.
But while the Jam Tarts look to be frontrunners for his signature, we could see a battle emerge when it comes to Hamilton Academical’s midfield magician Ali Crawford.
Both Rangers and Aberdeen are rumoured to be interested in the 25-year-old, who has already chalked up nine goals for Accies this season, including a world-class strike at Ibrox back in August.
And the Gers are also believed to have their eye on Conor Hourihane of Barnsley, with the classy playmaker currently impressing in the English Championship.
Meanwhile, in the East end of Glasgow, talk is that Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is closing in on Ajax’s tricky midfielder Thulani Serero.
With 30 South African caps under his belt, as well as an Eredivisie winner’s medal, the 26-year-old has plenty of experience on the big stage – and would be an excellent addition to the Parkhead ranks.
Up in the City of Discovery, Dundee could well have discovered the next Ladbrokes Premiership star in the form of Forfar Athletic striker Josh Peters – with the youngster having netted 11 times already this season.
Expect a flurry of activity in the January sales this time around…
