It’s funny how the fixture list plays out. You don’t play a competitive game for a month then meet the same side twice in seven days. But for Rangers, that’s not necessarily a bad thing as they prepare to face Motherwell.
The Gers grabbed a 2-1 win over Well in the Scottish Cup a week ago, making it three from three in meetings between the teams this season.
And Mark Warburton’s men are 13/20 favourites to pick up three points in this Ladbrokes Premiership clash.
And the Ibrox outfit will be keen to grab the win too, having headed into the winter break failing to win their last two league games, and with Aberdeen right on their tails in the race for second.
Mark McGhee’s hosts are a 4/1 shot, but they’ll be hard pushed to end a run of one win in seven.
There has been a theme in meetings between these sides this season, and that’s late goals.
Particularly, Rangers late goals.
Kenny Miller’s late double downed Well a week ago, while the forward popped up in the 90th minute to snatch all three points in August’s clash at Ibrox.
And even though it didn’t alter the outcome dramatically, James Tavernier netted in the final minute to consolidate a 2-0 League Cup win in July.
Plenty will find the enhanced 23/10 on Warburton’s men to win and both teams to score appealing, given that the hosts have netted in each of their last five fixtures.
Meanwhile it’s 4/6 that these two contribute to over 2.5 goals for the third successive occasion.
But given the recent trend in this meeting, the plum punt looks to be Miller to score last at 7/2 as Rangers look to assert themselves in second place.
