Defeat to Inverness on Monday evening was a major blow to Aberdeen’s hopes of landing this season’s Ladbrokes Premiership, but they have every reason now to get back to winning ways at Partick Thistle tonight.
The Dons sit three points behind Celtic having played a game more, but victory at Firhill would put the onus back on to Ronny Deila’s men.
Partick won last time out but that success over Motherwell was their first in five matches.
Alan Archibald’s side haven’t featured too strongly against Aberdeen in recent meetings either, with the Dons prevailing seven times in the last 10 clashes.
With both teams scoring in four of Aberdeen’s last five matches – and all of the last three – Ladbrokes are feeling generous as the weekend gets underway by enhancing Aberdeen to win and both teams to score from 5/2 to 7/2.
Partick have kept just three clean sheets at home in the league this season, and that should delight the in-form Adam Rooney.
The forward netted the opening goal in the Dons’ 2-0 win at Firhill in September, and did the same in his only trip to the ground last season too.
With 19 league strikes this term including a stunning 13 in his last 15 appearances, the 7/2 on Rooney bagging the game’s first goal could be too good to ignore.
And given the fact four of the last five contests between these sides ending 0-0 at the referee’s half-time whistle, the half-time/full-time on draw/Aberdeen at 15/4 could tempt too.
For Derek McInnes and his Dons however, this is a must-win if they’re to really challenge Celtic in the latter half of the campaign.
