Motherwell may have the home advantage as they welcome Aberdeen to Fir Park on Friday night, but it could be a nightmare before Christmas for the hosts, considering the Dons’ record in this fixture.

Derek McInnes’ men have won five of the last seven meetings between this pair, losing just once. And they mauled the Well during the last clash, finishing as 4-1 winners at Pittodrie in April.

They also head into this game in far better form than their hosts. Motherwell have taken just eight points from their last 10 Ladbrokes Premiership games, with the Reds notching up double that total – scoring 20 goals in the process.

But while they’ve been clinical up-front, the Dons’ defence hasn’t been the sturdiest of late – recording just one clean sheet in their last eight league outings.

That means there could be plenty of value in backing Aberdeen to win and both teams to score at 12/5.

One name we can expect to see on the scoresheet here is the visitors’ Adam Rooney. The 28-year-old has netted five times in his last six games against Motherwell, including a double at Fir Park in January 2015.

He looks generously priced to score anytime at 23/20, while it’s 6/1 he scores two or more goals this time around.

And he – and the Dons – could well snatch glory in dramatic circumstances in North Lanarkshire.

The Well have thrown away 11 points from winning positions in this year’s Ladbrokes Premiership, while Aberdeen have won twice from behind in their last dozen league matches.

That means the 17/2 on offer for the Dons to come from behind and win could be an inspired selection.

Meanwhile in the match betting, it’s no surprise to see Aberdeen priced as 7/10 favourites, with 15/4 for a Motherwell win, and 14/5 on offer for the draw.
