There are five 15:00 kick-offs in the Ladbrokes Premiership this Saturday with table-topping Hearts playing host to winless Partick while bottom side Kilmarnock will be hoping for an upturn in fortunes against Ross County.
We’ve gone through each game with a fine tooth comb to bring you our weekly preview and best bets.
Aberdeen v Dundee
Most teams in Scotland take the trip to Pittodrie with a sense of trepidation. Aberdeen have enjoyed a very handy home record in the last couple of years and sit pretty with a 100% record after three straight wins.
But Dundee are one of the few teams who might not fear playing their northern rivals.
Despite their second place finish last term, the Dons only tasted victory once in five attempts
The last time the pair met in January, the game ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw. The other two most recent games ended in 1-1 ties as well.
The Dees have started the season in impressive form and they may well come away with a point from their travels here.
Best Bet: Aberdeen 1-1 Dundee – 9/2
Hearts v Partick
League leaders Hearts are looking to make it five wins from five at home to Partick.
The Jambos’ impressive return to the top flight has caught the eyes of many and their attacking style and high scoring matches have been drawing much praise.
With the explosive striking trio of Osman Sow, Juanma and Gavin Reilly to pick from, the Partick defence will be facing a tough afternoon here.
However, the Jags finally found their scoring boots after getting two goals in their third match against Kilmarnock last time out. They have picked up two points thus far and Alan Archibald will be hoping they can pick up their first win here.
The previous two times the teams have met there have been twelve goals scored, with either side picking up 4-2 away wins.
The men in maroon should have too much for the winless visitors but expect there to be plenty of goals.
Inverness v Hamilton
There was a time when teams feared a trip to the Highlands to face Inverness. However, their recent record at the Caledonian Stadium has been less than impressive.
Their last nine league matches on home soil have only yielded two wins and they are yet to score in two games thus far.
John Hughes’s side sit joint bottom of the table and they have struggled to replace quality departures such as Graeme Shinnie and Marley Watkins.
A lot of the pressure lies on the young shoulders of the talented youngster Ryan Christie. If he has an off afternoon there seems to be a lack of creativity and invention elsewhere in the team.
Hamilton stormed to their opening win last weekend, with a 4-0 humbling of Dundee United and should be making the trip full of confidence.
The Highlanders beat the visitors in all four clashes last term but this is a different Inverness and this one might go the other way.
Best Bet: Hamilton to win – 12/5
Kilmarnock v Ross County
Kilmarnock managed to double their points total with a hard fought 2-2 draw at Firhill last weekend. This followed their dogged performance in their previous home match, coming back to claim a draw against the champions Celtic.
Ross have triumphed in the last three matches that these two have contested, and they will be heading to Rugby Park with great belief.
Despite the slight improvement shown by Killie in recent weeks, they are still far from their best and County may well have too much in hand to see them off in a close match.
Best Bet: Ross County to win 2-1 – 8/1
St Johnstone v Motherwell
St Johnstone host Well in what looks to be a very tight match which is hard to call either way.
Both sides find themselves in the wrong half of the table after poor starts.
Tommy Wright’s home side have scored in all four matches thus far but have only picked up two points, mainly due to the fact their defence has leaked eight goals in this period.
Motherwell are a team in freefall. They have lost their last three on the spin, as they continue their poor run that dogged them at the back end of last season.
Striker John Sutton will be determined to prove a point to the visiting manager Ian Baraclough. The veteran frontman was released by the Fir Park club in the summer, before being picked up by the Saints.
He has already opened his account for the Perth side and can be backed to add to this tally against a leaky back four, at decent odds.
Best Bet: John Sutton to score anytime – 2/1
