Opening their competitive campaign with two high-scoring wins has certainly given Hearts reason for early confidence, especially as their exploits in front of goal has done nothing to extinguish links with new front men.
Having strengthened their defence with the signing of Nigerian left-back Juwon Oshaniwa in the past week, Jam Tarts boss Robbie Neilson has turned his attentions to the sharp end of the field.
The Daily Record believes the Edinburgh outfit are moving closer to signing former Fulham youth player Wilson Carvalho, after the Englishman impressed during a trial at Tynecastle.
The youngster, who has also been on Port Vale’s books, scored in an under-20s clash with Rangers during his trial with Hearts and is thought to be pushing for a permanent deal with the Scottish Premiership outfit.
Neilson has already added two forwards to his squad over the summer, having secured deals for Gavin Reilly from Queen of the South and Kalloni’s Juanma.
The latter didn’t take long to open his account north of the border, netting in the fourth minute of Hearts’ 4-3 Scottish Premiership win over St Johnstone on the opening weekend of the season.
That victory followed a 4-2 success over Arbroath in the Scottish League Cup, indicating that Carvalho may have to wait for a chance to start should he secure a permanent deal with the club.
