Dundee welcome St Johnstone to Dens Park in tonight’s Ladbrokes Premiership clash, and though the two sides sit fifth and sixth in the table, their respective forms are rather contrasting.

Paul Hartley’s hosts have lost just two of their last six league contests, and both of those were away at higher placed opposition in Aberdeen and Ross County.

The visiting Saints however, are winless in six, losing four and failing to score four times too.

It’s a run which has really put the stoppers on Tommy Wright’s boys, who had occupied fourth spot for much of the autumn and early winter.

Indeed, after a 3-2 win away at Ross County on December 5, Saints were 10 points ahead of today’s opponents, but they now sit two points behind.

Dundee are 6/4 favourites for victory, while the visitors are available at 17/10.

The last two meetings have finished all square however, and another draw can be backed at 23/10.

Both of those contests ended 1-1, and this hasn’t been a regular for clean sheets, with four of the last five meetings seen both sides find the net.

With history pointing towards both goalkeepers having a busy night, Ladbrokes are making this tie a little more interesting by boosting Dundee to win and both teams to score from 7/2 to 9/2 AND St Johnstone to win and both teams to score from 9/2 to 5/1.

Dundee have been tough to beat at home this term – losing just three of their 11 fixtures – but they welcome a side who have won five times on the road, a record bettered only by Celtic and Aberdeen.

However when you add cup games into the mix, Saints’ form should hand Dundee the initiative tonight, with the Perth side going eight games without a win in all competitions.

Their last three matches have seen 14 goals however, including a seven-goal thriller last time out versus Aberdeen, and Dundee’s strikers will be keen to get at a defence which has kept two clean sheet in 14 games – and just three all season.

This is set up to be a closely fought encounter between two sides eager to secure their top-half status ahead of the split, but goals look likely tonight.
