Celtic are in for a nervy afternoon when they host Hearts in the Ladbrokes Premiership this weekend, but hotshot striker Leigh Griffiths can see them through.

That is according to former Celtic midfielder Murdo MacLeod, who says the Bhoys cannot afford to lose another home game this season if they are to retain their title.

Celtic go into this weekend’s meeting with the Jam Tarts four points clear of Aberdeen with a game in hand.

The Hoops go into the game as 1/4 favourites but with Celtic’s form dipping in recent weeks MacLeod thinks the game will be tighter than the odds suggest.

“It will be tight match as Hearts made it tough last time they came to Celtic Park by sitting back and being hard to break down,” he said.

“Celtic are under a wee bit of pressure from Aberdeen and they can’t afford to lose any games at home so I think they will come out and try to put on a show but it will be tight.”

MacLeod praised Hearts manager Robbie Neilson, saying his side are a “strong and well organised “ outfit but claimed Celtic’s star striker Leigh Griffiths will ultimately prove the difference between the two.

“He’s the man that every Celtic fan is looking at now. If he doesn’t score then they can struggle to see off games,” he added.

“Griff has been scoring so many important goals so we all hope he can remain injury free and keep his form up until the end of the season.”

The 25-year-old forward has netted 26 goals in 27 league games this season and looks a sure thing to score anytime at 4/9.

A first goal for the former Wolves man can be backed at 9/4 but the 16/1 on the hitman netting the opener in a repeat of Celtic’s 2-1 win October could prove the bet of the day.
