After an impressive start to recruitment life as Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers looks set to continue along that path with a renewed attempt to land Aston Villa wide man Scott Sinclair.
The Daily Record report that the Scottish giants will make a third bid for the 27-year-old, having previously been met with resistance over a £1m move.
Villa’s mood has seemingly changed now that Celtic have supposedly upped their offer to around the £3m mark.
That increased financial carrot and Roberto Di Matteo’s wish to trim some of his newly inherited squad at Villa Park have brought the deal back to life.
Sinclair started 19 Premier League games for Villa last season, scoring two goals, but the speedster would add serious quality to Celtic’s squad if rediscovering the form that convinced Manchester City to spend close to £7m on him in 2012.
Only 19 all-competition appearances were afforded the winger in Manchester however and it is fair to say that his career suffered somewhat as a result.
However, a chance to play regularly in a title-challenging – the Bhoys are 1/4 frontrunners to top the Ladbrokes Premiership again – European-footballing outfit could well coax the best back out of Sinclair, who should have no issue settling into the expectations of the SPFL side having spent time at Chelsea, as well as the Citizens.
Of course, the main reason to believe that he would be revitalised in Glasgow is the fact that his two finest years to date were achieved under Rodgers at Swansea, netting 36 times and thriving enough at Premier League level to attract that Man City attention.
Moussa Dembele was the first man through the door at Celtic Park, in a move that received widespread praise for its accomplishment.
With the French prodigy adding even more goals to a frontline already led by Leigh Griffiths, who netted 31 times in the Ladbrokes Premiership in 2015-16, and Sinclair potentially joining too, Rodgers appears to be building a formidable attacking outfit ahead of his debut campaign at Celtic.
