Greenock Morton midfielder Ross Forbes is January’s Ladbrokes Championship Player of the Month following a string of dazzling displays.

Jim Duffy’s side won all three of their league games last month and secured their passage to the Scottish Cup Fifth Round with victory over Falkirk.

Forbes played an integral part in that run with his four goals taking his total to 10 for the season, making him The Ton’s leading marksman.

Morton boss Jim Duffy said: “I’m delighted for Ross. We had a number of players who performed at a high level right throughout the month of January, but obviously Ross, with the goals he’s scored and the assists he’s had, has more than deserved the award.

“For players, it’s always good to receive acknowledgement for their performances and the work they put in, and hopefully Ross can continue that form for the remainder of the season.”

The Cappielow outfit currently occupy the final play-off spot in the second-tier, six points ahead of nearest rivals Queen of the South with two games in hand.

One of those comes tomorrow night when Morton travel to take on Raith Rovers.

The visitors are the 7/5 favourites to take all three points with Raith 9/5 and the draw available at 23/10.

Congratulations Ross Forbes!
