Meet the Rangers men that will lay siege to Morton’s goal

Rangers have the chance to open up a five-point gap on Hibernian in the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship when they visit Morton on Monday night, while the hosts are looking for their first win in four outings.

Mark Warburton’s men have strung a three-game winning streak together and look back to their fearsome best having only won one of their previous four league assignments. The league leaders have scored 14 goals in those three wins on the spin, a run which includes a 4-2 victory over second-place Hibees.

Their return to form doesn’t bode well for Jim Duffy’s side, who were resoundingly beaten 4-0 the last time they hosted Gers at Cappielow Park.

The Ton’s form at home has been pretty poor generally, having split their nine games evenly between wins, draws and losses and scoring just six goals, and so the 9/1 Ladbrokes offer on them to win looks a price to well and truly avoid.

Equally, 3/10 about the visitors doesn’t appeal too much unless it’s to be used as an accumulator anchor, so instead an alternative betting approach to the game needs to be sought.

For that, taking a look at the goalscorer marker is a must.

In returning to their defence-haunting best, Warburton’s men have found a regular source of goals coming from two men; Martyn Waghorn and Kenny Miller.

The former, who is the league’s leading scorer with 20 goals in as many games, notched a hat-trick in that 4-0 Morton trouncing last September.

With seven goals in his last four all-competition outings, the former Wigan striker is clearly in red-hot form and can be backed at 9/1 to bag his second league treble of the campaign.

Miller hasn’t been quite as deadly, but scored a hat-trick of his own away to Dumbarton three appearances ago. The veteran goal-getter has four strikes in his last two league outings and 21/20 chance to notch anytime against Morton.

Of course, with Ladbrokes Double Odds 1st Goalscorer offer, backing either man to score first is a worthwhile exercise too.
