New Hull KR man Dane Chisholm received a baptism of fire in last week’s 52-10 Super league defeat to St Helens but the Aussie says form will count for nothing in this weekend’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup semi-final.
The 25-year-old has endured an injury-hit career and despite being on the books of four different clubs Down Under has featured in just one NRL game.
However, the Mullumbimby-born ace sees the English game as a chance to rebuild his career and is raring to go in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup in particular.
“If I can win the Challenge Cup it’d be the biggest thing that’s happened in my life,” he told Ladbrokes News.
“I’m not thinking too far down the track but an opportunity to play in that final would be huge”.
The reason Chisholm is not getting ahead of himself is Hull’s form ahead of their meeting with Rovers.
KR have lost their last four outings but a win over the Wolves earlier this season shows that on their day they can be a force.
“You know in the back of your head that you have what it takes to beat that team,” he added.
“I wasn’t involved in that win though so personally I just need to take some positives from the weekend and work on the things that weren’t so good.”
Saturday will mark the Australian’s first taste of Challenge Cup football but the enormity of the competition is not lost on Chisolm.
During a trip to a Ladbrokes branch in Hull as part of the Challenge Cup Trophy Tour the fullback said he is gearing up for what will be a milestone in his career and he hopes to help Hull KR reach the final for the fans and also to prove that the English game is on the rise.
“It’ll be one of the biggest game I’ve ever played in and you can tell by the number of people that have piled into Ladbrokes in Hull today just what it means to the fans.”
“To reach the final would be awesome and it would prove that the game over here is getting a lot stronger and that there’s more depth to the league.”
