Barack Obama is set for another term in the White House according to Ladbrokes’ political punters.

He is now 8/11 (from 4/5) to be re elected in 2012 following last night’s State Of The Union address which represents his shortest odds since his 2008 victory.

The bookies are currently undecided whether Sarah Palin will run and go 5/6 she does and 5/6 she doesn’t, with Mitt Romney the 3/1 favourite to be Republican nominee.

The firm also hope that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie stays out of the running having laid a significant four figure bet on him to win the Presidency at 50/1.

He has been shortened to 8/1 in response.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Obama appears to be back to his best and looks like the man to beat in the race for Presidency. We’d be happy for any Republican to give him a run for his money except Christie as that would trigger a record US political payout.”
