Steven Gerrard could be about to call time on his MLS career with a sensational return to Liverpool.
According to The Independent the midfielder has been in discussion with new Reds boss Jurgen Klopp about a return to Anfield and the Kop favourite could even feature on the pitch.
Gerrard was expected to train with the Reds during the MLS off-season, but after a number of calls to Klopp he is now expected to pull on the red jersey once again.
It is understood that LA Galaxy are unwilling to consider a loan deal, similar to the ones that saw David Beckham leave California for two temporary spells with AC Milan, and will instead demand a transfer fee for their star player.
Klopp is said to want Gerrard to help set the tone and standard of professionalism at Anfield but is this a step backwards for the club?
That’s what we’re asking you to debate today. Will Gerrard’s return be a boost for all concerned? Or will it mean an Anfield legend tarnishes his legacy and stands in the way of others’ progression?
