The two sides dominated the game between them from the mid 1970s until, well, about five years ago.
Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal are now constant thorns in these two northern giants sides’, and ahead of this Sunday’s clash at Anfield, neither Liverpool nor United sit in the Premier League’s top five.
Such a statement would have been simply unfathomable in years gone by.
