Mario Balotelli has taken the title of worst Liverpool signing of the season, according to the results of a new Ladbrokes poll.

Asked to name the biggest flop from all of the Reds’ new arrivals this season, readers voted for the Italian as the pick of the bunch with Balotelli scoring 45 per cent of the vote.

It proved to be a close run thing though, with fellow newbie Dejan Louvren attracting his fair share of votes after a difficult first season at Anfield following a summer switch from Southampton.

The Croatian accrued 39 per cent of the vote on the day, with the Italian edging out his flop rival in the final few minutes.

Rickie Lambert was next in the voting, with the fellow ex-Saint scoring eight per cent of the vote after a campaign in which he has yet to score at Anfield for his new club.

Alberto Moreno may have arrived on Merseyside as part of a big money deal but it would appear that fans are reasonably pleased with his performances so far.

Liverpol

The Spaniard secured just five per cent of the overall vote, though it was Lazar Markovic who managed to do even better with just three per cent.

That result comes despite the Serbian playing a pivotal role in the Reds’ early Champions League exit, after getting sent off in the first-half of their crunch group stage encounter with Basel.

It would appear, however, that there is no love lost when it comes to Balotelli, with the Italian likely to seek a move away from Anfield and potentially the Premier League again this summer.
