Radamel Falcao has been dubbed Chelsea’s biggest ever Premier League flop after cutting his loan spell at Stamford Bridge short to return to Monaco.
The Colombian arrived at Stamford Bridge having failed to earn a permanent move to Manchester United, with then Blues boss Jose Mourinho believing he could get the best out of the South American.
However, after 11 appearances and just a single goal the 29-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements by interim Blues boss Guus Hiddink.
The move back to the principality club prompted today’s poll asking which of Chelsea’s numerous disastrous strikers was the biggest flop and with 37 per cent of the votes Falcao was the clear winner/loser..
However, while Falcao was roundly derided for his ineffective performances it is somewhat surprising that £50m man Fernando Torres didn’t come out on top of the pile.
The Spaniard did rank highly though, with 32 per cent saying the forward’s dismal form after leaving Liverpool makes him the Blues biggest flop of the Premier League era.
Completing the top three was another big name forward with a reputation for striking fear into defenders the world over.
Andriy Shevchenko was arguably the best striker in world football when he arrived but his reputation took a battering in west London where he netted just nine times in 48 appearances.
Mateja Kezman and Adrian Mutu were heralded as the next big thing when they arrived at Stamford Bridge but while both men failed to make their mark it seems Chelsea fans are less fussed with the players picking up just seven and two per cent of the votes respectively.
