Everyone’s favourite bobsleigh team beat Space Jam in film poll

We thought as much but just to confirm our suspicions (and what our back-end data doolallys tell us) it seems like you, our beloved readers, are very much kids of the nineties.

And that’s why you’ve chosen Cool Runnings as the best sports film of all-time with the cult classic attracting 39 per cent of the vote.

The flick chronicles the formation of Jamaica’s bobsleigh team and their heartwarming journey to the Winter Olympics.

Originally released in 1993 it would appear that it hasn’t lost its charm and appeal given your response.

Next up was Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull which fought a close battle for second with Escape to Victory.

Robert De Niro won an Oscar for his work in the former but I’m afraid no further awards are forthcoming from Ladbrokes News voters.

Not your jam: cartoon classic left floundering in latest poll

The latter’s ensemble cast featured the likes of Michael Caine and Pele but even their presence on our list couldn’t lift the 1981 picture higher than third place.

Any Given Sunday was a flagging fourth but perhaps the biggest disappointment was the performance of Space Jam.

The film that sparked this poll following rumours that a sequel with LeBron James could be in the offing finished up way off the pace.

We’ll leave the Looney Tunes and Michael Jordan to ponder that result.

All that’s left for us to say is…“Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up, its bobsled time!”
