John Longworth: Leave is winning the EU Referendum business argument

Business supremo John Longworth has claimed the Leave camp is winning the business argument for Britain to exit the European Union.

Speaking at the Ladbrokes Brexit Business Debate, the former British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) chief was bullish in his assertions that the business community was fully behind the case for quitting the EU.

Longworth told assembled politicians and journalists: “Based on businesses that only operate in the UK and exporters who only trade outside the EU, a group representing 87 per cent of the British economy, 94 per cent of those businesses want to leave the European Union.”

He went on to state that the structure of the European Union is “not designed for the UK” while making reference to the make-up of Britain’s service-based economy.
