Why a Prince Harry engagement is more likely than UK Eurovision success

We are more likely to see Prince Harry’s latest beau flashing a diamond ring in 2015 than success at next year’s Eurovision Song contest according to the latest Ladbrokes novelty bet market odds.

The ginger Royal lothario is 2/1 to get engaged in the coming 12 months while a UK Eurovision winner is looking a far less likely prospect at 25/1 with the bookmaker.

In fact, you can get better odds on the UK scoring “nul points” with 20/1 offered on such an outcome at the singing event next year.

Meanwhile, Harry getting on the road to married life looks more likely than a female Sports Personality of the Year which is priced at 5/2 with the bookmaker and Ladbrokes has even got markets on whether the following 12 months will bring rain or shine.

Ladbrokes are evidently taking the pessimist’s approach, with 5/1 offered on 2015 being the wettest 12 months on record.

Those favouring a brighter outcome, meanwhile, can get 8/1 on next year being the hottest on record in a price that reflects the bookmaker’s forecast for the time ahead.

Elsewhere in the betting, Ladbrokes is offering 6/4 on X Factor retaining the Christmas number one spot for 2015, while 2/1 is offered on the judging panel on the show remaining the same – something that is sure to go down badly with those fed up with Louis Walsh and Mel B.

Those seeking a slightly more outlandish X Factor pick could also lump on the 5/1 being offered on the show not returning to our screens next year.

But after a bumper year that saw Ben Haenow crowned winner, the smart money looks to be going on Prince Harry getting down on bended knee for the biggest question of them all.
