Aidan O’Brien should see Seville enter the winners enclosure in the Great Voltiguer Stakes at 15:05, and the Irish trainer can complete a quick-fire double with Await The Dawn.
The four-year-old will start the race as the short odds-on favourite and has already been backed in to 4/5 from 5/6 this morning, and the support will be unwavering.
Six of the last 10 renewals have gone the way fo the favourite and all of the last four have been won by the market leader, including Sea The Stars and Duke Of Marmalade at odds-on, and punters should fully expect Await The Dawn to do so today.
Joseph O’Brien will take the ride aboard Await The Dawn n the absence of Ryan Moore and his lack of wins in England this season are a negative, but he does have 33 wins to his name in Ireland and this should be his first win across the Irish sea this season.
Khalid Adbullah is doing everything he can to stop Aidan O’Brien winning this race and as a sponsor of the race, he is desperate to win it.
The Saudi Arabian prince owns Twice Over (5/1) and Midday (5/2) in today’s race and both have strong chances, although it’s Midday who is likely to pose the toughest challenge to Await The Dawn.
Midday was a winner at York earlier in the season and has won two of his three races at the racecourse, and Tom Queally will fancy his chances of running Await The Dawn close today.
However mares don’t have a great record in this race with the last female winning in 1998, and the last five to have run have finished 9, 6, 7, 6 and 7
Considering the fate of the favourites in recent years it’s hard to oppose Await The Dawn and we fully expect him to win the Juddmonte today.
