Why Ladbrokes is the place to bet on the King George VI Chase

Ladbrokes go money back on losing win single bets* if the favourite wins Kempton’s King George VI chase on Boxing Day, with the offer running between 08:00 on Sunday 20th December right to the start of the race at 15:10 on Saturday 26th December 2015.

With such an enticing concession on the table, there’s only one way to approach this prestigious Grade 1, and that’s backing two-time defending champion Silviniaco Conti at 13/2.

Paul Nicholls’ nine-year-old loves this track on the 26th, having taken the King George for the past two years and finishing second in his other Boxing Day appearance round Kempton – the Grade 1 Feltham Novices’ Chase four years ago.

In fact, Silviniaco Conti has made the first three in each of his four career races during the last month of the year, and a recent 7l reverse against Cue Card in the Grade 1 Lancashire Chase at Haydock shouldn’t steer backers away.

Nicholls’ animal finished almost 6l behind Colin Tizzard’s inmate at the same course in the build up to this race two years ago, only for Silviniaco Conti to reclaim superiority by 3½l a month later, and his Cheltenham Gold Cup blowout shouldn’t be seen as anything out of the ordinary.

Djakadam (16/1) and Road To Riches (20/1) both finished ahead of the Nicholls horse at the Festival in March, but the fact that both are so far behind in the betting for this, despite neither doing much wrong since, shows the wisdom of sticking with the defending champion.

Furthermore, with Don Cossack (9/4), Vautour (5/2) and Cue Card (7/2) scrapping it out for favouritism at the top of the market, you’ll feel the full benefit of Ladbrokes’ concession.

Silviniaco Conti might not be favourite, but he looks a fair bet for the three-timer at 13/2.
