The Safety Net – Barizan to canter to easy Southwell victory

After back-to-back tennis victories in the safety net bet, we return to horse racing today in a bid to cement our bank balance above the £400 mark.

Our initial £50 has grown rapidly in recent weeks and was ably aided yesterday by Fernando Verdasco at the German Open tennis, who brought to an end the giant-killing run of home hope Cedrik-Marcel Stebe in the clay-court event.

Verdasco’s straight-set victory ensured we surpassed the £400 milestone for the first time and we are relying on Barizan to continue the winning vibe.

Barizan finished second in the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last year and also has a victory over Carlito Brigante to his name, who has since gone on to run with credit behind the likes of Big Buck’s and Quevega.

However, trainer Evan Williams has since decided to switch the horse to the larger obstacles, which may have been a wise move given the way he won on his debut over fences at Fontwell.

Barizan should improve for that run and as long as he avoids falling he should have no problem following up at Southwell today.

In a rare jumps meeting at Southwell, Barizan lines up in the Connolly´s Red Mills “Pure Nutrition” Novices´ Chase against only two rivals.

Youandme tailed off on his only other chasing start so can be given little chance, while although Fairleigh House showed some ability on his latest run at Stratford, he still has plenty to find with Barizan and a 6lb gulf in the weights will not be enough to counter the gap in class.

Barizan is 2/7 in the horse racing odds to win the 15:30 at Southwell and we will therefore be staking £70 on this victory to fulfil our aim of winning £20 each day.

Current Status
Bank: £401.50
Today’s stake: £70
Best case scenario: £421.50
Worst case scenario: £331.50

Last Safety Net bet: Fernando Verdasco to beat Cedrik-Marcel Stebe at the German Open @ 4/11

Wealth warning: although we are confident the safety net bet’s strategy will be profitable over a period of time, the nature of sport means we cannot guarantee you will win every single time.
