This year’s Ladbrokes St Leger Festival has already thrown up a fair few big price winners with the likes of Home Cummins (12/1), Kiyoshi (11/1) and our Lively Longshot, Shore Step (11/1), all keeping the bookies in profit yesterday.

Not to be deterred, we’re heading back to Doncaster to try and unearth more winners and offer a bit of a value along the way.

Back a winner at 4/1 or greater and get a free bet up to your unit stake on all Doncaster races throughout the St Leger Festival.*

Plus, Ladbrokes are also offering 1/4 odds a place on all 29 races at the four-day meeting.

NAP – Estimate – Doncaster Cup (14:40)

Having finished dead last in the Goodwood Cup the nation’s favourite punt ESTIMATE was unlucky to be touched off when contesting the Lonsdale version at York last time out.

But with an extra two furlongs to travel on this occasion our pick looks good to deliver and follow-up on last year’s memorable Ascot Gold Cup success.

Plumping for Her Majesty’s runner may not seem like ‘Nap’ material given the quality amongst the rest of the field.

Dual winner Times Up was behind our selection on the Knavesmire but will surely go close to regaining his crown while recent Chester Stakes runner-up Whiplash Willie is another who has to be respected over this type of trip.

But we‘re feeling confident that the Queen’s horse can deliver.

NB – Retirement Plan – Ladbrokes Mallard Stakes (14:10)

Adventure Seeker will attract plenty of attention here following his close second in the Melrose Stakes at York but we’re looking elsewhere in a bid to get Ed Vaughan’s charge beat.

Ebor third Elidor will also have a few friends in the betting ring, however it’s the Lady Cecil-trained RETIREMENT PLAN who grabs us.

The four-year-old colt showed his middle-distance pedigree when taking the spoils in a handicap at Ascot on Shergar Cup day.

And a creditable fifth in the subsequent Ebor can’t be discounted.

Lively Longshot – Poole Harbour – Cooper Marquees Handicap (15:45)

In an attempt to try and catch the bookies out we’ve examined this extremely tricky handicap!

Danzeno stands out following his Group 3 victory at Newcastle on his previous appearance and the three-year-old could certainly have the edge over his older rivals.

But rather than go with the obvious we’re sticking our neck on the line with POOLE HARBOUR our selection here.

On the best of last season’s form the David Nicholls-trained charge certainly has place claims while Shropshire and previous winner Sir Reginald should also be prominent.
