Maybe has had a disappointing campaign to date, especially when failing to justify favouritism in the 1,000 Guineas, but she can put her best foot forward again in the feature race at Newmarket, which is the Falmouth Stakes.

13:20 Newmarket: Perfect Step @ 5/2

Cardigan may prove a big danger if none the worst for a hammering when stepped into Group One company and finishing a tailed-off last behind Fallen For You in the Coronation Stakes, but Perfect Step has a lot going for her.

She is proven on a softer surface, already has a course victory under her belt and may have been let off leniently by the handicapper as she runs off the same mark as when second at Ascot last time.

13:50 Newmarket: Piri Wango @ 8/1

Piri Wango was there to be shot at for a long way in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot on his handicap debut before failing to really see out the trip.

This drop back from 1m to 6f looks a wise move and the horse gets in off the same mark again on what should prove similar ground.

Sholaan has to be rated the big danger as he has only been raised 1lb for finishing third last time despite missing the start.

14:25 Newmarket: Maureen @ 5/1

Sendmylovetorose is likely to go off favourite and has done little wrong in winning on her two racecourse starts, including when landing a Group Three at the Curragh last time.

However, this could come down to the two Richard Hannon runners and although City Image warrants respect and is the chosen mount of Richard Hughes, Maureen could be open to any amount of improvement.

She coasted to victory on the bridle against modest opposition on her debut and with similar ground here, could extend her unbeaten record.

15:00 Newmarket: Maybe @ 8/1

Golden Lilac will be extremely tough to beat if bringing any of her French form over, particularly that which saw her defeat Cirrus Des Aigles at Longchamp last time.

However, she offers almost no value odds-on and so it may be worth taking an each-way punt on Maybe, who seemingly struggled to stay at Epsom last time.

Back over 1m she should do better and if repeating any of her two-year-old form, can easily finish among the places.
