It may be Aiteen Thirtythree and Great Endeavour that head the Hennessy Gold Cup betting, but with doubts over both runners, there are at least three horses worthy of each-way support at Newbury.

Aiteen Thirtythree is the 11/2 favourite, but is arguably a bit one-paced and does not look the best handicapped of the 18 entrants.

Meanwhile, Great Endeavour will have to recover quickly after his Paddy Power Gold Cup victory, while the extra 5f at a flatter track may not be to his liking.

Therefore, it may pay to find something at a bigger price in the Hennessy Gold Cup odds and The Giant Bolster, Planet of Sound and Tullamore Dew could all prove worthy of consideration.

The Giant Bolster @ 20/1

Any bet on The Giant Bolster is a risky proposition given his dismal jumping record, but Newbury is not as testing as Cheltenham and therefore increases his chances of a clear round.

The 3m2f trip should pose no stamina doubts and the fact that it means the pace is likely to be slower should also help his jumping.

He fell at the first fence in the Paddy Power Gold Cup, but if he stays up he has a fine chance of finishing in the each-way places.

Planet of Sound @ 12/1

Planet of Sound is a former Grade One winner which shows his class and he is certainly better than his official rating suggests.

He may have been off the track for almost a year since the King George on Boxing Day, but he runs fairly well fresh and should improve for a breathing operation in his time off.

Tullamore Dew @ 25/1

Pedigree suggests that Tullamore Dew will appreciate the step up in trip and he showed fine form last season, particularly when third at the Cheltenham Festival in the Centenary Novices’ Handicap Chase.
