The Shergar Cup at Ascot keeps the excitement flowing after a tremendous Glorious Goodwood.

It’s the world’s top jockeys’ competition, in which 12 top riders are split into four teams made up of GB & Ireland, Europe, Rest of the World and the Girls, battle over a six-race card.

And there’s also a decent renewal of the Lancaster Stakes at Haydock, too. So, without further ado, check out our best tips.

NAP – Elwazir – 3:05 Haydock

Owen Burrows’ Elwazir kicks this column off nicely with a NAP sat at a nice price for the quality of the nag.

The three-year-old has won back-to-back races at Sandown and Ascot. And that includes a defeat of Gordon Stakes winner, Cross Counter at the former track.

Jim Crowley is on-board after Frankie Dettori rode him to a decent handicap win at Ascot. And Crowley has waxed lyrical about his chances here. He’ll take all the beating in a field that doesn’t really match his quality.

NB – Machine Learner – 2:15 Ascot

The Shergar Cup is fraught with betting traps but Machine Learner looks the best gamble of a stacked card.

Joseph Tuite’s charge was disappointing on his seasonal reappearance over course and distance. But he perked up substantially in his next run, winning at a slightly longer trip at Ascot back in June.

He’ll have to overcome a further 5lbs here after that win. But the five-year-old is a huge fan of quick conditions and, fingers crossed he gets that again here, he should hose up.

Lively Longshot –Byron Flyer– 1:40 Ascot

Ian Williams has three runners in this 1m 7f handicap but the most interesting selection is Byron Flyer.

Williams’ stayer was second here last year, running a highly-impressive race finishing up just behind Euchen Glen. The seven-year-old was also a decent seventh in the Cesarewitch, and second to The Grand Visir at Haydock in May.

He’ll be running off 3lbs higher this time around but Hayley Turner takes the ride. And connections are confident he can turn it on again and go one better than last year this time around.

ITV Racing tips:

1:05 Ascot – El Astronaute

1:40 Ascot – Byron Flyer e/w (Lively Longshot)

1:55 Haydock – Play It Cool

2:15 Ascot – Machine Learner (NB)

2:30 Haydock – Narella

2:50 Ascot – Via Serendipity

3:05 Haydock – Elwazir (NAP)

3:25 Ascot – Bless Him

3:45 Newmarket – Main Edition

4:00 Ascot – Shaheen
