One of the most-loved and lucrative racing festivals gets underway on Tuesday as day one of Glorious Goodwood commences.
We’ve got some thrilling races to look forward to on the opening day with all eyes on Big Orange in the feature race of the day.
As usual, we’ll try and direct you in the correct direction with tips on all the live action on ITV..
“Tipping up a 4/5 shot?” we hear you groan. Okay, okay, so it’s not the most adventurous prediction we’ve ever made, but frankly speaking, Big Orange is out on its own in this race.
Michael Bell’s six-year-old has won this race for the last two years and goes for an unprecedented three-in-a-row.
The only thing that can stop him is soft ground but with little rain forecast between then and now, and Frankie Dettori on-board, he will take some beating.
It’s a fairly strong field for the Lennox Stakes but we like the look of Henry Candy’s Limato to get the job done at 10/3.
There had been certain worries about his participation with connections unsure to put him on soft ground but with little rain forecast, they’ve gone ahead with his inclusion and we’re delighted.
Spirit Of Valour and Home Of The Brave should challenge, but the jump to seven furlongs will suit the five-year-old gelding which simply adds to our reasoning here.
In a tough-looking renewal, we like the look of Henry Palmer’s Murad Khan as our Lively Longshot pick.
The five-year-old has had a topsy-turvy time of it so far this season but a recent return to form in the last month, coupled with three wins last year, means 10/1 is too big to turn down.
With a number of relations having won this race before, we reckon Murad Khan might be the next family member to fire to glory.
ITV Racing Tips:
13:50 Goodwood – Murad Khan
14:25 Goodwood – Mildenburger
15:00 Goodwood – Limato
15:35 Goodwood – Big Orange
