Salsify will be an extremely popular selection in the CGA Foxhunter Chase especially after his victory last year, but it is not guaranteed that he is the best horse in the race in his efforts to secure back-to-back successes.

Some people will consider Salsify as their best Festival bet, but 5/2 is plenty short enough for a race with this many entrants and a race with amateur jockeys where mistakes are far more likely to occur.

Chapoturgeon is next in the betting at 9/2, but there is no reason to truly believe that he is capable of reversing his length defeat to Salsify 12 months ago, with the main reason being that he does not possess the stamina of his fellow market leader.

However, this site tipped Zemsky at 33/1 to win the Foxhunters two years ago and we believe another horse down the betting could run a big race this time.

Creevytennant is the chosen one and he was mightily impressive when romping to victory on the bridle at Musselburgh last time.

If the Foxhunters was raced around a right-handed track he would be a clear fancy, given his tendency to jump right.

This has been an issue at Cheltenham in the past, but he does have course-winning form and if he can jump relatively straight, he will almost certainly out-run his price of 25/1.

Oscar Delta has finished third in each of the last two years in the Foxhunters and as a result is another that must enter the shortlist at 25/1, alongside Dante’s Storm at 20/1.

The latter finished fifth in this race two years ago but paid the price late on for attempting to take on Baby Run for the lead.

If he is ridden with a little more restraint this year, he can finish much closer.

Meanwhile, punters struggling to make a firm decision on the Cheltenham Gold Cup may want to pick a horse at random with this roulette wheel.
