Tiger Woods has enjoyed a love affair with Torrey Pines in the past and this makes him a bet that cannot be refused at 5/2 to win the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour.

Problems in his private life may have ensured that Woods has not added to his 71 PGA Tour victories since winning the BMW Championship in September 2009, but with these troubles now seemingly behind him, he is ready to commit his focus to the course once again.

Woods has excelled in the Farmers Insurance Open in the past, winning on each of his last four appearances and six times overall.

Meanwhile, the former world number one also secured the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines, when virtually playing the whole major on one leg because of an injured knee that required reconstructive surgery soon after.

Woods triumphed by eight strokes on the last occasion he participated in the Farmers Insurance Open and there have been signs on his most recent course appearances that he is close to recapturing the form and dominance of days gone by.

Late last year Woods performed impressively at the Ryder Cup, especially in his singles clash with Francesco Molinari which secured a comfortable point for the US team.

Meanwhile, he starred for three rounds of the Chevron World Challenge, before a lacklustre final 18 holes contributed towards him succumbing to Graeme McDowell in a play-off.

However, the pair did still finish four strokes ahead of the remainder of the chasing pack.

Another factor that points towards a Woods win is that he has made it a common occurrence to begin a new season with a victory, doing so on six occasions in the past.

A £25 stake on Phil Mickelson winning the Farmers Insurance Open would return £300. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
