It’s the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth this weekend, and Rory McIlroy heads up a stellar cast for the European Tour’s feature tournament.

The Northern Irishman is the 8/1 favourite, and he won this event in 2014. That victory proved the catalyst for Rory’s sensational summer where he won the Open and the US PGA.

But McIlroy has also missed the cut in Surrey four times, including each of 2012, 2013 and 2015.

Repeat winners of the BMW PGA are also somewhat rare. Only Anders Hansen and Luke Donald have won the event twice since the turn of the millennium.

Paul Casey is one to watch at 14/1. The Englishman won in 2009, and has been in fine form this season.

Casey won the Valspar Championship in March, produced a scintillating Saturday and Sunday at the Masters and came home T5 at Wells Fargo.

Alongside the 40-year-old at 14/1 are Branden Grace, Alexander Noren and Tommy Fleetwood.

We’re 20/1 about Francesco Molinari going one better than his runner-up result 12 months ago, although the Italian hasn’t posted a top-10 finish since December.

There is plenty of buzz about Englishman Matthew Fitzpatrick, however, at 25/1.

The Sheffield-born ace already has four European Tour wins to his name, and his round of 66 on the final day at Wentworth last year set tongues wagging for what he can achieve this time around.

Similarly, Paul Dunne (25/1) is sure to be fancied this weekend. The Irishman heads to Surrey in excellent form, with four top-eight finishes in his last five events.

With Ryder Cup spots up for grabs this September, you can expect plenty of the European players to try and make an impression.

A buoyant Wentworth crowd will be geeing up the home heroes too. None more so than Andrew Johnston.

Beef has been picking up results of late too, with a pair of T12s and a second place from his last three events. He’s 50/1 to collect a popular home win this Sunday.
