A select field of 30 will contest the Nedbank Golf Challenge and hovering just outside the top five in the betting for the 2015 Race To Dubai curtain-raiser, American Brooks Koepka looks a fine bet at a handsome each-way price.

Koepka is a 16/1 chance to lift the trophy on debut and has earned the right to contest the invite-only event in South Africa, following a stunning first full season which saw the 24-year-old crowned European Tour Rookie of the Year.

His breakthrough win at the Turkish Airlines Open during the recent Race To Dubai play-offs series ensured a mightily impressive eighth-place finish in the order of merit.

Not only is it refreshing to see a young US golfer opting to spend the majority of his time on the European Tour, but this guy is clearly becoming hot property in the world game.

The big hitter’s final seven finishes to round off the 2014 campaign included five top 15s, with three of those being top 10s.

Elsewhere in this ultra-classy field, which includes half of the victorious European Ryder Cup team and two major winners, would-be punters are spoilt for choice.

Of the quartet of 10/1 shots leading the way with Ladbrokes however, two stand out.

Firstly, last year’s joint runner-up Jamie Donaldson, who enjoyed a phenomenal season on the European Tour where the Welshman finished fourth overall behind winner Rory McIlroy.

Having rounded off his 2014 campaign with a 12th place in Dubai, the Ryder Cup hero is bound to be in the mix at the Gary Player-designed course.

The other is 2012 Nedbank Challenge champion and reigning US Open title-holder Martin Kaymer.

The German tied for sixth at WGC-HSBC Champions last month and arrives off the back of a timely week’s rest.
