The upcoming golf season is being anticipated like never before and, as we get underway at the Abu Dhabi Championship this weekend, Ladbrokes has some brilliant prices to help ramp up the excitement even further.
Ladbrokes is offering the best price on all the big name golfers in the field, meaning there is some serious money to be made.
Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood and World No.1 Luke Donald will all be teeing it up in the fourth European Tour event of the season and any one of those could walk away with the title.
Donald showed throughout last season that his game is more than capable of withstanding even the most intense pressure and won the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic to claim the PGA Tour money list at the end of the year.
Donald is out at a very generous 14/1 to extend his lead as World No.1 with a win.
Meanwhile, World No.2 Westwood is in at a slightly shorter 12/1 and finished runner-up in the tournament back in 2008.
However, there are two players who most will want to see at the top of the leaderboard – Woods and McIlroy.
Woods is finally back to full-fitness following a couple of seasons hampered by injury and personal problems and a duel with US Open champion McIlroy – that could hopefully turn into a long-term rivalry – is what every golf fan is craving.
Woods is out at 9/1 to win his second tournament in two months, while McIlroy – who finished second in the event last year – is joint favourite with Martin Kaymer 7/1.
And it’s with Kaymer that the smart money should be.
The German has an incredible record in the Abu Dhabi Championship and can win it for the third successive year this weekend.
In the past four years he has won the event three times and finished runner-up once – a run that included him finishing with a tournament-record score of 24 under par last year.
With a record like that, backing Kaymer at 7/1 to bag another win looks well worth a punt.
