Lewis Hamilton is the 1/3 favourite to win this season’s Formula One championship after another dominant performance at the weekend.

The Mercedes ace cruised to a sixth win of the season at Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix at Monza, and moved to the top of the standings for the first time this year.

Hamilton also won in Belgium a week ago, meaning he’s overhauled the 14-point advantage Sebastian Vettel held during the summer break.

He’s won six races this year compared to Vettel’s four, and our traders have had to act accordingly.

The 1/3 price on Hamilton becoming a four-time champion this year is his shortest price of the season.

Vettel meanwhile has drifted to 9/4.

The German was left to finish a lonely third at Ferrari’s home event last time out, but remains just three points behind Hamilton in the title race.

And a quick look at the odds suggests the four-time champion could ensure Hamilton’s time at the top is short-lived.

The Singapore Grand Prix is next, and Vettel is the 5/4 favourite to win around the street circuit.

So far this season the Ferrari has proven the better package on the slower, twistier races, with Vettel winning in Australia, Monaco and Hungary.

Mercedes struggled at those events, which goes some way to explaining why Hamilton is 7/4 to win in a fortnight’s time.

But Singapore is just one of the remaining seven races, and the majority of which should favour the Silver Arrows.

So while we can expect Vettel and Ferrari to bounce back next time out, by the season’s end our traders are more convinced than ever that Hamilton will be champion.
