Glitz, glamour and gazillion-pound yachts the Monaco Grand Prix has in abundance. What is far rarer at Formula One’s most famous track, however, are winning drivers who don’t start from pole position.

Only once in the last 10 editions at Monaco has a driver (Lewis Hamilton who qualified third in 2008) come from anywhere other than the very front of the grid to take the chequered flag.

The simple fact is that while the claustrophobic confines of the Monte Carlo street circuit test the drivers’ skills to their limits and often produce dramatic incidents, the scope for overtaking is almost non-existent.

So, given that the Mercedes duo of Hamilton (4) and teammate Nico Rosberg (1) have accounted for all five poles of the 2014 season so far, looking beyond the Brit as the 4/6 favourite for race victory or the German, at 7/4, would be to take leave of one’s senses.

Luckily for Ladbrokes customers, they can look beyond the most likely outcome of yet another Mercedes one-two, by profiting from their market w/o Hamilton and Rosberg.

The first place to look would be to former winners and as such 2011 winner Sebastian Vettel is certainly a tempting bet at 2/1.

Nevertheless, it’s perhaps worth noting that during his four-years of title-winning dominance, the Red Bull man only won in the principality on a solitary occasion, while he’s struggled to get to grips with his new car in ’14.

A best showing of the season for Red Bull of third and fourth in Spain showed improvement, but once again it was their rookie Daniel Ricciardo (9/4) who outperformed his illustrious teammate.

Meanwhile, seasoned Ferrari pairing of Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso, both former winners at Monaco, are far more exciting propositions at 10/1.
