Celtic fans have every right to be disappointed with their side’s start to the season but things are looking up and the Bhoys’ improvement looks set to continue at St Mirren this weekend.

Dumped out of the Champions League – twice – and sitting a lowly fourth in the Scottish top flight, Ronny Deila’s side restored some confidence with a 3-0 cup win over Hearts last time out and history suggests the winning feeling will remain when visiting the Saints in Saturday’s early kick off.

Celtic have won eight and drawn one of the last 10 meetings with Tommy Craig’s men and as such are priced as the 4/11 favourites to claim all three points.

The hosts can be backed at 7/1 and the draw is available at 7/2 but here Ladbrokes News lists the three best bets of the match.

Kris Commons to score first @ 7/2

Commons may have drawn a blank in Celtic’s European outings thus far but his domestic record this terms stacks up.

The 31-year-old has scored four goals in seven league and cup games this season, including strikes in Celtic’s last two games against Hearts and Motherwell.

The former Stoke City and Derby County striker has hit four goals in as many meetings with St Mirren, making this price too good to ignore.

Celtic (-2) to beat St Mirren @ 2/1

With the win-draw-win market seeing the champions unattractively priced the handicap markets makes for better reading.

Celtic may be struggling so far this season but confidence boosters don’t come much bigger than a meeting with Saints.

The last 10 meetings have seen the Glasgow club smash 26 goals and conceded just five and with St Mirren on a three-game-goalless streak a Celtic rout could be on the cards.

Celtic to win to nil @ 21/20

Celtic have scored three or more just once in the last eight outings so those wary of the handicap market could be tempted to back a win to nil.

As already mentioned, St Mirren have lost their last three home games in the Premier League without registering a single goal.

Celtic have failed to score just once in 30 away games so look well placed to punish another toothless St Mirren display.
