The rumour mill has cranked into overdrive and the odds suggest that Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be set for a late hurrah in the Premier League.
After some rather teasing words to journalists, Ladbrokes price up the Swede as just an even money shot to swap Paris for the Premier League in the summer.
When asked about where his future lied, Ibrahimovic replied “I have three months here and then what will happen? Big things will happen. Let’s see what happens.”
On whether the Premier League is a potential destination, Zlatan gave this rather cryptic response; “Let’s just say I am in shape.”
Manchester United are chalked up as the most likely destination at the end of the summer, with the bookies offering 2/1 that he moves to Old Trafford when the transfer window opens.
That switch could become all the more likely if Jose Mourinho were to be handed the reins in the north west with incumbent Louis van Gaal under severe pressure.
Mourinho and Ibrahimovic spent a season together at Inter Milan, with the striker netting 29 goals, as the Italian side marched to a Serie A success.
In the time since, the striker has spoken of how he regrets not playing under ‘The Special One’ for a longer period of time, so seeing him take advantage of any possibility of a reunion would be no surprise whatsoever.
But while Arsenal and Chelsea are chalked up as 6/1 shots to be Zlatan’s club at the start of next season they are both seen as less likely scenarios than him going nowhere.
Ladbrokes offer just 5/2 that he is a Paris St-Germain player when the summer window closes, something that would undoubtedly thrill Les Parisiens fans.
While that remains a strong possibility, the odds of him crossing the English Channel look set to contract further as the climax to the campaign draws ever nearer.
