Fulham’s Moussa Dembele, not to be confused with his almost-namesake at Tottenham, has been the subject of transfer speculation all season, with Manchester United the club rumoured to be interested most.
However, the Cottagers man could now be about to join up with the Belgian at Spurs, following the elder Dembele’s career path.
The 19-year-old is seen as one of the brightest stars in the Championship and has found the net 11 times in 28 appearances across all competitions.
This is even more impressive considering the Cottagers’ poor form this season, with the Londoners sitting 19th in the table and only five points clear of the relegation zone.
Now that Spurs have entered the race for Dembele’s signature, a move to White Hart Lane would be a wise choice for the young Frenchman.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are quickly becoming known for moulding young players into Premier League stars and this should provide an incentive to the Fulham man.
Dele Alli is the best example of what is currently going on at Spurs, with the current England international plying his trade in League One last season.
The former MK Dons star has found the net five times from midfield in the Premier League this campaign and marked his first start for the Three Lions with a wonder goal against France.
Conversely, moving to Old Trafford has proved to be a mistake for young players coming up from the Football League.
Nick Powell and Wilfried Zaha both signed for United in the 2012/13 season, with Powell arriving in the summer and Zaha being purchased in January.
Their time at Manchester wasn’t positive, with the Crystal Palace man spending most of his time with the Red Devils out on loan before being sold back to the Eagles last February for a £7million loss.
Meanwhile, Powell has only made nine appearances across all competitions for United and is now entering his fourth season with the side.
