With Champions League football still a distinct possibility, Slaven Bilic is reportedly looking to add Theo Walcott to a West Ham United squad who have produced some superb football in this campaign.
Arsenal winger Walcott is reportedly the Hammer’s number one target, with the Brentwood Gazette claiming that the east London club are preparing to launch a sensational £26m bid for the player. That figure would make the ex-Southampton star West Ham’s record signing.
Slaven Bilic is 7/2 to bring the pacy and skilful Walcott to West Ham’s new home this summer, and the player would certainly fit well with the Hammers’ counter-attacking flair.
Southampton are next in the betting, with Walcott 8/1 to return to the club where he started his career, this summer.
The 27-year-old has regularly been linked with Liverpool in previous transfer windows, and the Gunners star is 10/1 to head to Anfield with the hope of securing more regular first-team football. Walcott is slightly longer odds to join Roberto Martinez at Everton.
Leicester City are set to secure Champions League football next season and Claudio Ranieri may look to add European experience in the form of Walcott at 12/1, while a place in Antonio Conte’s Chelsea revolution might tempt a few at 25/1.
Walcott is also 33/1 to join Arsenal’s fierce North London rivals Spurs, but with any deal the first direct transfer between the clubs since 2005 the player’s future likely lies elsewhere.
Arsenal’s next assignment is away at West Ham – Walcott’s most likely suitors – on Saturday lunchtime. The Gunners are 17/20 to win, with the Hammers priced at 3/1 and a draw 13/5.
