Manchester United to win the 2016/17 Premier League

Manchester United’s change of direction under Jose Mourinho is sure to see new talent ushered through the Old Trafford door and this recruitment drive may yet include a very exciting young Frenchman.

The Daily Mirror report that United’s hierarchy have honed in on Bordeaux’s Adam Ounas over the course of the season, with the red top also claiming enquiries about the 19-year-old’s availability have been registered.

If these headlines prove to be more substance than speculation, then Red Devils fans will wish to know a little more about their prospective teenage signing.

An outstanding breakthrough campaign

Ounas has really made his mark in France’s famous wine-producing region during his breakthrough campaign, making 30 appearances for Bordeaux and scoring six times in 2015/16.

The attacking midfielder hit five of those in Ligue 1 and his abundant natural flair has seen him widely touted as one of the most promising talents France has to offer.

On the strength of just a handful of first-team displays last autumn, Bordeaux moved to tie Ounas down to a long-term contract which runs until 2019, a possible sticking point in United’s pursuit.

Any offer from the Premier League giants to the Ligue 1 outfit will need to be fairly meaty given the contractual situation.

He has all the natural attributes to be a star

Ounas has since earned a call up to France’s U20 side where he’s appeared once, though he won’t be following possible future teammate Anthony Martial to the Euros.

Bordeaux’s number 22 is predominantly left footed, has a vicious strike, and his composure on the ball belies his years.

He’s arguably at his best when running at players and his diminutive stature (5ft 7”) means he’s blessed with the kind of balance to tie defenders up in knots.

Shades of Hazard about him

It’s very easy to liken Ounas to that of an Eden Hazard type when he is slaloming past opponents.

It just remains to be seen whether Mourinho and co are convinced enough to make Bordeaux an offer they can’t refuse.
