Major League Soccer side New York City are the even-money favourites to snap-up John Terry this summer following the shock news that the 35-year-old is set to depart Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
The Chelsea legend announced he’d be leaving after the Blues’ 5-1 hammering of MK Dons in the FA Cup Fourth Round.
And with his current employers apparently unwilling to offer the decorated defender a renewed contact, Terry has decided he’ll carry on playing elsewhere.
The MLS has long been thought of as a viable option and New York would be the obvious destination given the fact that former club and country teammate Frank Lampard is plying his trade in the Big Apple.
However, the ex-England international is unlikely to be short of options.
It’s 11/4 for Terry to make the switch to LA Galaxy while Didier Drogba’s Montreal Impact (5/1) and the New York Red Bulls (8/1) have also been mentioned.
There’s also been speculation linking JT with a move to China. Guangzhou Evergrande (12/1) are on Ladbrokes’ list while on the flip side you can get long odds about a switch to another Premier League club (25/1).
Wouldn’t be surprised to see John Terry play in China, after his ‘personal tour’ there last year & would also allow him to do Xmas Euro loan

A more realistic bet would be for the ‘captain, leader, legend’ to manage Chelsea at some point in the future, priced up at 5/1 by the bookmaker.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “The betting firmly points to a trip to the States for Terry at the end of term. He’s sure to interest plenty of sides but at the moment it’s New York City who appear to be leading the race for his signature.”
