The start of the Premier League season is now just days away from getting started, which means it’s time to lay reputations on the line and make some predictions.

Whether it’s forecasting the top two or making some bold bets in our relegation market there are a number of ways to impersonate Nostradamus this season.

The latest comes in our series of Season Match Bets, where punters can side between two rival top-flight clubs in a head-to-head tussle over finishing position.

Below we explore our three favourites, while the full list can be found here:

Southampton to finish higher than Everton @ 13/10

The Saints have another new manager and have sold a number of first-team regulars. Again. However, a large proportion of their most regular starters are still with the club and the south-coasters have proved their ability to cope with upheaval more than once.

At Everton, where former St Mary’s boss Ronald Koeman fled, John Stones has gone to Man City and Romelu Lukaku may be off too. So far their new investors have funded the signing of Idrissa Gueye and little else. They are more of an unknown quantity at this stage.

West Ham to finish higher than Leicester @ 1/1

Yes Leicester won the league last season, but N’Golo Kante is no longer a Fox and his absence is likely to be harshly felt at the King Power Stadium.

West Ham impressed under Slaven Bilic last term and have added a wealth of attacking options to their squad this summer. The new London Stadium could help propel them to an improved top-flight finish.

Middlesbrough to finish higher than Sunderland @ 1/1

David Moyes arrived at the Stadium of Light and spoke of his desire to lift the club away from their relentess relegation scraps.

Unfortunately the Black Cats squad hasn’t been significantly improved to deliver on that ambition, while Middlesbrough have re-entered the Premier League and added Victor Valdes, Viktor Fischer and Alvaro Negredo. They’ll be a surprise package.
