The saying is that ‘too many cooks spoil the broth’, and Bournemouth could be set to sell on one of theirs this summer. No, not Lewis Cook – but Steve. And it’s Watford who lead the race for the defender’s signature.

The 25-year-old has been one of the Cherries’ top performers this season, helping them to nine clean sheets in the Premier League. And he’s also proven handy at the other end, netting in the victories over Hull City and Liverpool.

Having also impressed last term, it’s clear the former Brighton & Hove Albion man is no one-season wonder.

And unsurprisingly, his consistent displays at the Vitality Stadium have led to interest from the South Coast club’s Prem rivals, with the Hornets just 7/4 to snap up the centre-back this summer.

They’re followed in the betting by Newcastle United at 11/2, with Rafa Benitez likely to recruit following the Magpies’ promotion triumph last night.

Southampton (6/1) are third in the betting, with West Bromwich Albion 7/1 and a move to West Ham United priced up at 8/1.

However, the bookies reckon it’s unlikely he’ll head back to former club Brighton & Hove Albion, with odds of 12/1 for the Hastings native to rejoin the Seagulls.

Next up for Watford is the visit of Liverpool to Vicarage Road, with the Hornets 9/2 to secure a second successive home win over Jurgen Klopp’s men.
