Fernando Torres has managed just three Premier League goals in 17 starts since his £50million move from Liverpool last January.

Now, it seems as though the London club appear to be finally losing patience with their misfiring striker, and seem willing to take a hit on the massive fee they shelled out to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

Paris Saint-Germain manager Carlo Ancelotti, who signed Torres for Chelsea, has reportedly been offered the chance to end his Blues nightmare by taking him to France.

That Chelsea would allow a move for the ex-Liverpool man is surprising, despite his poor form for the club, considering that strikers Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou are on international duty at the African Cup of Nations.

But Ancelotti is insistent that a transfer is possible, while also claiming that a host of other big-name strikers are on his radar.

“There is a lot of choice for this January market. Do you want the names? OK, now I tell you the players that agents are offering on the market, officially or not: Tevez, Torres, Berbatov, Pavlyuchenko, Cavani, Llorente,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

PSG would surely face fierce competition for a number of those names, who themselves have been linked with a whole host of clubs during the transfer window, and so a chain reaction effect could ensue should one of the players move.

Indeed, Edinson Cavani has been spoken of as a target of Andre Villas-Boas, and he would likely see the Uruguayan forward as the ideal addition to his squad should Torres exit Stamford Bridge.

However, with such a wealth of talented striking options supposedly on offer to Ancelotti, there is no guarantee he would make a move to bring in a player who flopped so magnificently under his guidance last year.

Torres has the chance to step up for the Blues in the absence of Drogba and Kalou this month, and he must seize the opportunity if he wants to save his Chelsea career.
