Maurico Pochettino’s summer transfer shortlist is headlined by one man and that man’s agent has been very chatty with the press.
Lorenzo Insigne has scored 12 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions for Napoli this season and that is enough to earn Tottenham’s interest.
The 24-year-old winger is highly coveted across Europe so his agent decided to speak out and address the speculation.
Speaking to the Italian radio station CRC, Fabio Andreotti said: “There are three clubs among Europe’s top ten that have their eyes on Insigne.
“We spoke with them and they want to set up some meetings, but Insigne is so focused on Napoli that he doesn’t even want to know their names.”
Obviously, this news will encourage Spurs fans to know that they have most likely already made enquiries to sign their top target, despite interest from other clubs.
However, when Andreotti further elaborated on Insigne’s future, it made it clear he is unlikely to head to White Hart Lane any time soon.
“They are just probing for the moment, because I expect Insigne’s experience with Napoli to continue in the summer.
“The club’s desire and that of the player is that of finding an agreement and continuing together, but there are no absolute terms in football.
“Every agent has an obligation to look out of the window for new offers, so we’re listening to everyone, out of respect.
“But we’d like Napoli to set up an important project and turn Insigne into the Francesco Totti of Napoli,” he said.
Linking Insigne’s potential career trajectory to Totti shows that the Naples-born star is going to be difficult to pry away from his homeland.
The Roma man has been in his club’s first team since he was 16 and is heading into his 24th with the club.
