Chelsea look set to be rather busy in the final days of this summer’s transfer window, and one arrival in West London could be Antonio Candreva.
Gazzetta dello Sport claim Inter Milan have told the Italian winger that he can leave the San Siro club, just 12 months after joining them.
There are wholesale changes afoot at the Nerazzurri, and Candreva could go for just £25m.
That’s great news for Chelsea, with boss Antonio Conte eagerly seeking three or four additions in the next week or so.
Candreva joined Inter from Lazio for £20m last summer, and proved a regular contributor, netting six goals in addition to 11 assists.
The 30-year-old Italian would certainly add a welcome bout of quality and experience, boasting 54 goals and 55 assists in Serie A.
And with the ability to play in a vast number of offensive roles, Conte would relish the Italian’s tactical flexibility, especially with the Blues light on numbers.
Chelsea have endured a difficult summer in the transfer market, missing out on a number of targets, including Romelu Lukaku.
And the defence of their Premier League title got off to a nightmare start as Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas were both sent off in a 3-2 home loss to Burnley.
A 2-1 win over rivals Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday eased the pressure, but a subdued vibe remains around Stamford Bridge.
In addition to Candreva, Leicester City duo Jamie Vardy and Danny Drinkwater have also been linked with a move to the Blues.
